M&D Bird Farm opened its doors in July of 2002. In 1988, I began breeding Cockatiels, later expanding to Parakeets, Conures, Senegals and Amazons. There proved to be a niche in lower Delaware and the Maryland eastern shore that no one was addressing for hand-fed, tame pet birds. Even as I expanded into larger birds, I soon realized that I could not breed enough birds to meet the demand. Now we have two breeders located in the South that breed for me, while I still breed my own Cockatiels, Lovebirds, Parrotlets, Parakeets, some Conures and Amazons

We offer everything from Finches to Macaws, in all sizes and price ranges. Some of the breeds we carry are: Macaws, Cockatoos, African Greys, Amazons, Conures, Indian Ring Necks, Quakers, Cockatiels, Parakeets, English Budgies, Canaries, and Finches.  Usually we have selections of Sun Conures, Blue Crown Conures, Green Cheek Conures and Jenday Conures. 

Every bird is hand raised at our facility. Our nursery has large glass windows, where you can view the babies being fed throughout the day. As our babies wean, they graduate to the Bird Show Room where our customers meet and interact with our birds, and soon select a special bird to adopt. Deposits are accepted at any age, and all new owners are encouraged to come in often to visit and bond with their new family addition. Orders can be taken if we do Not Currently have the specific bird that you are looking for. I have assembled a very knowledgeable and customer service oriented staff. Each of them are bird owners as well. It is very important to us that each customer has an idea of what they are looking for in a bird, so that we can match the right bird to their new owner. 

Please click on our Birds Available page and see just a few of the babies that we have in the store. Remember that they grow very quickly, so they won’t look like little babies for very long. The store is 4000 square feet, and contains between 60 and 200 birds at any one time. 

We also have over 40 bird cages on display in the store, with additional colors in stock.

We have a separate room where we board birds for owners who are on vacation.

We also provide all bird grooming services, services that you are welcome to watch.

We can groom wings, beaks and nails while you wait. 

Appointments are strongly recommended.

For those of you that want to know if your bird is a male or female, we can collect a blood sample and send it away for DNA sexing. We receive the test results in about a week, with a certificate following in about 2 weeks. 

We offer a Bird Rescue Service for Abused, Abandoned, At-Risk or Elderly Birds, funded entirely through our in-house Bird Rescue Donations. We also offer free pickup in the Delmarva area.
